Problem setting up Microsoft Office error at step 4 of 4.
The "virtualization handler" means that you bought an online download and got "stuck" with the "Click-to-Run" installation. CTR doesn't actually install it on your comptuer, instead Office runs in a "Virtual machine" the is running on MS owned servers somewhere "out there" in the internet.
Long shot, type "services" in the start menu search window and hit enter to display the Services dialog. Look throught the listed services for one called "Virtualization Handler" or something similar. Confirm that it is running. If it isn't start it. This technology is new to home users, and unfortunately the only fix we know for it is to get rid of it by uninstalling and switch to a "normal" installation which we are familiar with. Note: When installing the full trial version instead of using the Click-to-Run version will require you to uninstall any previous version of Outlook first.
Use the Advanced Options to get access to the full installer which supports synching. Here are the full steps:. Click on the green button to advance to the next page depending on the site, the green button will say something different, but most of the time it is Download Now or Update Now. On the next page, look in the top right corner and you should see a link for My Account , click on it. Now you will see what you previously purchased, next you should click on Download.
In this window, click on the link for 32bit. Note: Repairing Office Click-to-Run products require an Internet connection to be available during the entire repair process. Select Microsoft Office Starter from the list of installed programs and them click Change from the commands available above the list.
Check Remove Office user settings if you want to reset all options to factory defaults. Uncheck it if you wish to retain any customization that you have performed on the program s. Click Repair and follow the procedure through to its conclusion.
